What’s Happenin’ in Wilmington 👀
Thursday, August 22nd
Charley Crockett in Concert: come see bluesy folk-country singer/songwriter Charley Crockett at Greenfield Lake Amphitheater! Tickets start at $60. The show starts at 6pm with doors opening earlier. Crockett will also be playing Friday night if you can’t make it tonight!
Comedian Sarah Sherman: straight from SNL, actress/comedian Sarah Sherman will be in the Dead Crow Comedy Room’s Lush Lounge tonight through Saturday. Shows start at 7pm and 9:30pm with tickets starting at $25
Jen and Tonic, Fireworks and Boardwalk Blast: as always, music starts at 6:30pm with fireworks at 9pm. Jen and Tonic plays music ranging from AC/DC to Adele; bring your family, a beach chair and some money for the food trucks!
Jazz in the Garden: at Kipos Hellenic Cuisine from 6:30pm to 8:30pm with food and drink available for purchase. Enjoy a relaxing almost-weekend dinner with a cocktail and jazz music!
Taylor Swift Tribute Candle Light Concert: “A live, multi-sensory musical experience” featuring the beloved hits of Taylor Swift played by the Listeso String Quartet. Located at The Elia with shows at 7pm and 9pm.
Trivia Night at Hell’s Kitchen: food, drinks, games, and prizes! From 7:30pm to 9pm.

Fourth Friday Gallery Nights: looking for a splash of creativity in your weekend? Presented by the Arts Council of Wilmington, every fourth Friday galleries and studios stay open after hours to celebrate all kinds of art and culture. Hop from gallery to gallery between 6pm to 9pm. Island Hopper Cruise: explore the islands that dot Wrightsville Beach and the surrounding Carolina coast with this 2 hour cruise (tickets starting at only $50)! Local hidden treasures await!
Cosmos of Chaos Gallery Opening: A FREE event for lovers of art and the otherworldly. Hosted at Ollio Provisions from 6pm to 9pm.
End of Summer Bash: Vintage finds, fresh baked goods, interactive booths and more at this pop up night market in the cargo district! Pop in from 5pm to 9pm with a tee or tote for block printing (and your pup for a photo op)!
Fired up - Coastal Carolina Clay Guild Show: Tickle the right side of your brain with a ceramic arts show by Coastal Carolina Clay Guild and Orange Street Pottery at Acme Art Studios from 6pm to 9pm.

Battleship Yoga at Sunrise: hosted at 7am by Yoga Village, with online registration required. This all levels yoga class offers not only a relaxing way to exercise, and an unforgettable view, but also coffee from SUNday’s!
Wilmington Farmers Market: If pasture-raised, organic, local, or homegrown is your middle name, this market hosted at Tidal Creek Food Co-op is made for you! Drop in from 8am to 1pm and browse to your hearts content!
Themed Pottery Classes: Perfect for a relaxing date after a long week, a family day, or a chance to make new friends! These classes (between 10am and 4pm) are perfect for all ages looking to get their hands messy and create some art! $55 per person at Bookworm Pottery DT.
1st Anniversary Celebration at Mannkind Brewery: from 12pm to 11pm, accompanied by food trucks, discounted beers, live music, baked goods, give aways, face painting, and more!
Comedian and Magician Justin Willman: Grab your tickets (starting at $50) online at the Wilson Center soon, as this is a sellout show! Doors open earlier for the show at 7pm.
Carolina Beach Farmer’s Market: If you haven’t had a chance to spend a leisurely Saturday strolling this popular market (from 8am to 1pm) you only have a couple more weeks! Grab your locally grown goods and handmade gifts for any upcoming birthdays!
Books and Beers Release Event: Two new book releases by local author Todd Sherman will be celebrated with two new beer releases at Flytrap Brewing. “Stand in the beer garden and wonder as fresh monsters crash toward the Cape Fear River.” Event runs from 2pm to 5pm
Sunday, August 25th
Comedian Ian Bagg: A boundary-pusher “crowdwork” comedian in (you guessed it) the Lush Lounge at the Dead Crow Comedy Room. The doors open at 6pm for the 7pm show. General admission $25.
Under the Boardwalk at Carolina Beach Lake Park: bring your kids for an animated beach adventure about a timid crab who befriends a bold tourist sea crab. Find a spot on the lawn for your beach chairs or blanket in time for the movie to start at dusk. Popcorn, soft drinks, and cotton candy are all available for purchase.
Dog Cruise to Palm Tree Island: bring your fur baby for the ultimate Sunday funday hosted by Soundside Cruises, Rentals and Charters. Event time varies, with ticket prices ranging from $10 to $45. See the attached website for more information!
Game and Trivia Night: Scoot over to The Sorrow Drowner between 5pm and 9pm with your D&D crew, or some friends and your favorite board game. Trivia starts at 8pm!

🌊Erosion in the Outer Banks Destroys Homes: about a week ago, a seventh home in the last four years washed into the ocean. This incident was due partially to swelled water levels from Hurricane Ernesto. The erosion and changing coastline in the outer banks pose a pressing problem to homeowners with property near the shore!
🎬Netflix Series Begins Filming in Wilmington: Created by Kevin Williamson (the creator of Dawson’s Creek and co-creator of The Vampire Diaries) “The Waterfront” started shooting around town last week. Starring Holt McCallanly and Maria Bello, the show is inspired by true events and will follow the story of the Buckley family and their struggling fishing empire. If you pay attention, you might catch the movie crew around town!
