  • Annual Tree Giveaway Event: Wilmington’s TreeFest Celebrates their 27th year with a bare-root seedling giveaway, in an effort to continually replenish the tree canopy. If you’re interested in planting your own tree, head over to the JCPenny wing at the Independence Mall from 11am to 4pm Friday or Saturday!

  • Willy Wonka Jr at The Community Arts Center: Presented by Thalian Association Friday through Sunday with various showtimes available! If you’re looking for an entertaining and relaxing evening, get your tickets now!

  • Punk Rock Show at Reggies 42nd Street Tavern: Wilmington returns to the 80s with various artists, including the Asheville grunge punk trio! Tickets are $10 with doors opening at 8pm!

  • Dear Evan Hansen at the Wilson Center: It’s opening night for another show perfect for musical theater lovers! Check available showtimes online now and reserve your seats for this classic show!

Saturday, January 18th

  • Brews and Blends at Hi-Wire Brewing: From 1pm to 3pm hosted by Silk Touch Esthetics! Swing by to get your own custom foundation formula, built to support your unique skin! Grab a drink and your new favorite foundation.

  • Anniversary of the Battle of Fort Fisher: The 160th anniversary commemoration will begin at 9am and end at 5pm with public programs from 10am to 4pm. Displays, demonstrations, and special guest presentations and guided tours ($10). Parking is limited, so if you’re bringing a group consider carpooling to Fort Fisher!

  • Wilmington Farmer’s Market at Tidal Creek: Wilmington’s year round farmers market runs from 8am to 1pm, getting you your fixing of fresh produce and homemade goods!

  • Restorative Yoga and Cacao Ceremony: If essential oils, breath work, massages, yoga, and cacao sound right up your alley, be sure to reserve your spot for this two hour workshop (from 3pm to 5pm).

  • Greenfield Lake Family Nature Walks: Meeting at 9am at the boathouse for an hour long guided nature walk! Bring your friends, family, water bottle, and hiking shoes for a free, no-registration required event! Binoculars are available!

Sunday, January 19th

  • Lushes and Line Dances at Brunswick Beer Xchange: Starting at 3pm, this line dancing event coincides with BBX’s monthly potluck! Bring a dish to share, and your best dance moves!

  • Dog Adoption and Fundraiser at Flying Machine Brewery: Whether or not you’re looking to provide a forever home, swing by Flying Machine Brewery between 1pm and 4pm to show Long Road Home NC’s dogs some love! Grab some bites from El Charrito and a drink from the bar!

  • Sunday Ruck at Oasis Riverlights: Open to anyone looking to add a bit of fitness into their week! Suitable for beginners and up! Meet across from the community clubhouse and follow the White Chevy Tahoe for a Ruck around the Lake starting at 9am sharp!

  • Chili Cook Off at Bills Brewing Company: 12th annual Chili Cook-Off and food drive! Bring a crockpot of your best recipe with an entry fee of $20! Check in at 12pm, Judging starts at 1pm.

  • Unlock Your Creative Potential at Terra Sol Sanctuary: A 12 week artists course begins this week at Terra So Sanctuary! Drop in classes or discounted rates for the full course are both available! This course includes weekly meetings, a supportive community, as well as guided daily morning writings, artist dates, and aid in creative flow!

✈️ JetBlue Comes To Wilmington Offering New Flights to ILM Airport: JetBlue has announced new flights from Wilmington International Airport (ILM) to Boston Logan International Airport, starting May 1, 2025. The daily service will connect Wilmington to Boston as well as 77 other new destinations, further enlarging ILM’s offerings for the local community. Tickets for the flights are now available for booking.

🏝️ Ocean Isle Institutes Paid Parking for the First Time This Summer: Ocean Isle Beach will implement a paid parking program starting April 1, 2025, to manage increased visitor traffic and generate revenue for infrastructure improvements. The program will operate from April through September, charging $2.50 per hour or $25 per day, with annual passes available for $175. Parking will be managed by Otto Connect, which will enforce regulations and collect fees via a mobile app and onsite kiosks. Residents with valid hurricane re-entry decals can register for free parking passes, while handicapped parking will remain free.

🐈 Winnabow’s Fix a Friend Begins Lifting Program to Protect from Further Damage: The Fix a Friend spay and neuter clinic in Brunswick County has begun a project to elevate its building six feet off the ground to prevent future flooding. The clinic has experienced multiple floods in recent years, leading to costly damages and disruptions in services. The elevation project is expected to take several months, during which the clinic will remain closed. Once completed, the raised facility aims to provide uninterrupted services to the community, safeguarding against potential flood damage.

📆 The Carolina Beach Music Festival is expanding to a two-day event for its 39th year: Featuring traditional beach music on June 7 with The Tams, Band of Oz, and Jim Quick & The Coastline, and adding a new reggae-focused day on June 8, with tickets going on sale January 16, 2025, at $35 for single-day or $59 for a two-day pass. The additional day aims to attract more weekend visitors and boost local businesses as part of Carolina Beach's centennial celebration.
