WILMINGTON NEWS AND UPDATES
⚠️ The County Urges Wilmingtonians to Stay Off the Roads: Both the New Hanover County Government and New Hanover County Fire Rescue have highly recommended staying home while this weather remains! If you don’t have to leave, “Your mode of transportation should be house slippers” NHC Government says! Be sure to stay warm and safe today. Make your weekend plans with a grain of salt as many things such as road conditions and event cancelations are in the air!
🌉 Cape Fear Bridge Closure: While the Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway reopened this morning, there are still several patches of dense ice. The Cape Fear Memorial Bridge is currently closed, so if you’re in a pinch use the Isabel Holmes Bridge instead! It doesn’t appear as though any other major roads are fully closed down.
🏥 Resources Available if you are in Need: To stay up to date with important road closures, emergency resources, and weather and health advisories, check out the New Hanover County Emergency Management.

LOCAL SPOTLIGHT OF THE WEEK: 🎻
The Crown and Fiddle - Wilmington’s New Irish Pub

Located on Masonboro Loop, The Crown & Fiddle Pub and Kitchen offers a warm, cozy environment that blends Old World charm and classic pub. As one of the few establishments in town serving Scotch Eggs and Irish Potato Puffs, it stands out as a haven for those seeking authentic pub cuisine. Traditional favorites like Fish and Chips, Shepherd’s Pie, and the Dublin Spice Bag are standouts, transporting diners straight to the British Isles, and The Sticky Toffee Pudding, a must-try dessert, provides a sweet conclusion. With both indoor and outdoor seating, the pub caters to various preferences, and the numerous TVs make it an ideal spot for sports enthusiasts (even opening earlier on the weekends)!
The staff at The Crown & Fiddle are dedicated to creating a family-like atmosphere, ensuring every guest feels at home. Their commitment to hospitality is evident, from the warm welcome at the door to the attentive service throughout the dining experience. Whether you’re in the mood for a comforting dish or looking to catch a game with friends, The Crown & Fiddle Pub and Kitchen is a top choice in Wilmington.
