What’s Happenin’ in Wilmington 👀

Thursday, November 14th

  • Illusionist Jeki Yoo at Thalian Hall: America’s Got Talent’s “Cutest Magician of All Time” dazzles Wilmington with a show starting at 7:30pm (doors opening earlier) and tickets starting at $45! Grab your tickets now for an unforgettable evening!

  • Thursday Night Trivia at Seven Mile Post: Beer and prizes for 21+ starting at 6:30pm. If you’re craving some Caribbean cuisine with a side of competition, this is the event for you!

  • Battle of Mobile Bay Presentation: From 6:30 to 8:30 pm Wilmington’s Cape Fear Civil War Roundtable hosts a presentation on the Battle of Mobile Bay by John V. Quarstein at St. John’s Episcopal Church in the Elebash Hall.

  • Black Power Rangers Comedy Tour: From 7 pm to 8:30 pm at Gravity Records, if you have southern humor, and appreciate a blend of social commentary and pop culture, grab your tickets online now!

  • Head Over Heels Presented by UNCW Theatre and Music: Following the love story that weaves through a royal family, featuring pop hits from the 80s, Head Over Heels has multiple showtimes throughout the weekend, head over to their website to find the perfect showtime for you!

  • Board Game Night at Cape Fear Games: Free every Thursday night featuring a huge selection of board games (and the opportunity to bring your own). Bring your friends or make some new ones starting at 6pm!

Friday, November 15th

  • Yoga on the Intracoastal at Dockside Restaurant: Only a couple more sessions are available for Friday morning sunrise Yoga with an unforgettable view! From 7:30 am to 8:30 am bring your yoga mat or a beach towel for a beginner-friendly yoga class (drop-in rate $18).

  • Carolina Surf Film Festival at Waterman’s Brewing: Surf-related films begin at dusk, with food and drink available for purchase. If you’re a movie and surfing lover, this two-day event (also running Saturday 11/16) is the perfect weekend activity!

  • Blake Farm Festival of Homes: Open house, free food, live music, vendors, and prizes at Townes at Blake Farm, Reserve at Blake Farm, and Oak Grove, from 1 pm to 5 pm!

  • Justin Cody Fox Band Live at Ted’s: Tickets are $15 at the door for a show starting at 8 pm (with doors opening at 7 pm). Swing by for your favorite local singer, songwriter, and guitarist!

  • Flytrap Brewing’s “Hey Thanks!” Art Opening Reception: From 6 pm to 10 pm celebrate the brand new art installation in the taproom, “Hey Thanks!” By HP Fangs, who will be present to chat with! Come by for a drink and some art appreciation.

  • Coffee & Connection Hosted by Fueled By Faith: Head over to Elevate Coworking from 10 am to 11:30 am to network, connect, and fellowship with like-minded women and fellow coffee lovers. Inspiration, faith, and community are on the menu.

Saturday, November 16th

  • Holiday Cheer Market: Hosted at theArtWorks, this is the perfect shopping opportunity for Christmas decor, personal goodies, or gifts! From 10 am to 4 pm featuring 40+ local artists and makers perfect to give you that extra dose of Christmas Spirit!

  • Greenfield Lake Family Nature Walks: No registration required, just some good hiking shoes and a love of nature and bird watching! The guided tour runs from 9 am to 10 am starting at the Greenfield Lake Boathouse. Don’t forget sunscreen and bug spray!

  • Rudolf the Red-Nosed Reindeer The Musical: Everyone’s favorite Christmas classic visits The Wilson Center with various family-friendly shows throughout the weekend! Reserve your seats online for unforgettable Christmas memories!

  • Wesley Memorial Holiday Bazaar and Bake Sale: From 8 am to 1 pm featuring all your holiday gift needs, from handmade crafts and goodies to yard sale items, Christmas decorations, and homemade foods. The proceeds will benefit missions through Wesley Memorial.

  • Southeastern NC Herbal Conference: At Old River Farms in Burgaw from 9 am to 4 pm, gather with other herb lovers, and enjoy workshops led by passionate presenters.

  • Smart Start Family Festival: From 10 am to 1 pm at Long Leaf Park, perfect for kids ages 0-8. Complete with hands-on activities and interactive shows!

  • Open House Art Show at Bradley Carter Art: From 11 am to 5 pm enjoy live music, yummy bites, and art galore! 20% of the earnings from this event will benefit Mustache For Kids.

  • Film and Falafel: From 6 pm to 9 pm at the Girls and Boys Club, this is an opportunity to bond with our community through a meal, and film about the Palestinian people and their struggle for freedom.

WILMINGTON NEWS AND UPDATES

🍗 Local Fire Department Holds Annual Food Drive: Open as of yesterday, the WFD (Wilmington Fire Department) is accepting donations for canned goods, including items such as fruits, vegetables, chicken, and tuna, as well as rice and pasta. They will be donating items to Nourish NC on December 1st.

🧸Donations are Open for Weller’s Wheels and Holiday Smiles Toy Drive: Drop off a new and unwrapped toy at the Salvation Army’s DT or New Centre Dr. Warehouse Monday to Friday 9 am to 6 pm. You can also donate virtually if you’re in a pinch for time!

🐠Cape Fear is Getting New Artificial Coral Reefs: As a part of a seafloor enhancement project, North Carolina’s Marine Fisheries’ Artificial Reef Program is set to develop a new reef along the NC coast every year for the next five years, with the last three years occurring in the greater Cape Fear Region. This project has been successful in the past and is intended to enhance ecosystems and create a more chronic area for sea life.

🕊️ Skip Watkins, Former New Hanover County Commissioner, Passes Away at Age 66: UNCW graduate, manager of Cape Fear Fair, board of directors for NC Association of Agricultural Fairs, co-chair of the Azalea Festival Circus Committee, and county commissioner from 2014 to 2018. A public celebration of life will be held at Riverlights Lakehouse this Sunday (November 17) from 12pm to 2pm.
